E-bike theft in England: successful chase<\/h2><\/div><\/div>[vc_column_text el_class=”teaser-imb” css=”.vc_custom_1689164208808{padding-bottom: 20px !important;}”]<\/p>\n

Gravesend, England, 26 January 2023. An e-bike was stolen in a town near London in early January. The owner didn\u2019t report the theft until a few weeks later. BackPedal<\/a>, IT\u2019S MY BIKE\u2019s partner, took up the chase.<\/p>\n

Liam D.\u2019s bike had been stolen in the historic English town of Gravesend back in early January, but Liam D. didn\u2019t report the theft to BackPedal until several weeks\u2019 later, on 26 January. BackPedal immediately began to track the bike in coordination with the IT\u2019S MY BIKE Hunter Team. It became apparent that the bike thief had been making normal use of the bike for several weeks after the theft, riding it around Gravesend and the surrounding area.<\/p>\n

The Bike Hunter Team received a clear GPS signal from the tracker on the day that Liam D. reported the theft. It was located on a street close to St Aidan\u2019s Park in Gravesend. The team took up the chase again just one day later. BackPedal started to follow the thief on the bike around 2 p.m., when they also alerted the police. A little later, the thief drew to a halt at a house, where the police also appeared and were able to recover the stolen bike from a garage.<\/p>\n
