E-bike theft in France: recovered in under two hours
On Sunday, 29 March 2026, Carolin M.* returned to find that her e-bike was no longer where she had left it. She had parked it at Lozère station, north of Montpellier, on 21 March, before travelling on to Marseille. When she returned in the late afternoon, the bike had disappeared.
She reports the theft via the IT’S MY BIKE app shortly afterwards, as her e-bike is fitted with a GPS tracker.
The Bike Hunter team at IT’S MY BIKE is now in close contact with Carolin M. and is taking all necessary steps. The relevant police authorities in Lozère have also been informed.
A crucial development then takes place shortly afterwards: just two hours after the report was made, the police manage to recover the bicycle. Following the issuance of a search warrant, the bicycle was found on private property to the west of the station, near a body of water known as the ‘Bassin de Croupières’.
The suspected perpetrator and their accomplices were arrested at the scene and taken to the police station. Further bicycles were also seized and confiscated during the operation.
For Carolin M.*, the incident thus takes a surprisingly swift and positive turn. She is informed of the discovery immediately. Her bicycle will be returned as soon as the official investigations are complete.
