Bicycle theft in Fürth: bike seized back on motorway
One day in mid-March, Dennis N.* noticed his e-bike had been stolen. He had last seen it in the inner courtyard of the building where he lives, just a few metres away from Fürth city centre.
But he was fortunate: his bike was fitted with an IT’S MY BIKE GPS tracker. He immediately reported the theft in the tracker app and forwarded the necessary details to the IT’S MY BIKE Bike Hunter Team.
The team started looking for the missing bike straight away. The built-in GPS tracker’s movement alarm started emitting a signal just one day later.
This signal enabled the team to track the bike as it travelled along the A9 motorway towards Munich, probably loaded in a vehicle. The team alerted the motorway police immediately.
The vehicle eventually stopped to refuel at a service station in Hilpoltstein, where the police swung into action and stopped a vehicle towing a trailer.
They struck pay dirt: the thieves had dismantled the bike into a number of separate parts and stowed them in the car. Dennis N. was pleased to get his e-bike back again.
