GPS tracker helps to safely return stolen e-bike to Frankfurt.

A night-time theft in Frankfurt am Main at the beginning of June triggers a week-long search for clues. Thanks to the GPS tracker, the signals lead the bike hunters and police step by step to their destination:  From Frankfurt-Höchst, via Oberems, to a truck full of bicycles on the motorway.

At 10.39pm on 6 June, an e-bike was stolen from a home in Frankfurt. The next day, the victim reported the theft via the IT’S MY BIKE app. Fortunately, the bike was equipped with an IT’S MY BIKE GPS tracker, which immediately transmitted its location. Initial data showed that the bike was near the Höchst cemetery, to the west of the city centre.

However, officers were unable to act at this point. When the bike is spotted on the evening of 25 June being transported by vehicle towards the Taunus motorway, the pursuit begins. Thanks to the tracker, the route can be traced seamlessly — at 20:44, the e-bike is precisely located at the Westkreuz Frankfurt motorway junction.

Acting immediately, the bike hunters from IT’S MY BIKE promptly inform the motorway police, who stop a truck at the Brühlgraben rest area. The truck is loaded with bicycles and parts. The next day, it is confirmed that the stolen e-bike is in the truck. It is seized and taken to the relevant police station in Frankfurt.
