No escape thanks to GPS tracker: E-bike theft foiled in Raschau

On 28 September 2024, a thief strikes in Raschau and steals a high-quality e-bike from the container of a bicycle shop. But IT’S MY BIKE’s anti-theft device is built into the bike, setting off a chain of events that returns the bike to its rightful owner within 24 hours.

At 13:10 on 28 September 2024, Mark T* reports the theft of his high-quality e-bike in Raschau. Unfortunately, he hadn’t properly locked his bike, which made it easy for the thief to steal the bike from a container in his bicycle shop. What the thief doesn’t know is that the bike has an integrated IT’S MY BIKE theft protection system.

By reporting the theft via the IT’S MY BIKE app, the IT’S MY BIKE bike hunters are informed directly. On the night of 29 September, the tracker sends the first location data at 00:38.

At around 06:45, the bike is switched on again and the tracker is fully charged. From 07:04 a precise GPS signal is available, indicating a residential area to the east in Raschau – Markersbach.

Mark T. reacted quickly and contacted the police, as a known person already lived at the address. And indeed, after a brief confrontation, the thief willingly returned the stolen bike. Within less than 24 hours of the theft being reported, the e-bike is returned to its rightful owner.
