It was early morning in Göttingen on 1 May 2023. Everyone was probably still asleep when a thief made off with Paula O.’s bike, even though she had secured it with a lock. The thief mounted the stolen bike and headed towards Göttingen city cemetery at about 2.15 a.m. Just one hour later, the thief started moving again, riding further west from its last location to a residential area in Göttingen.

Paula O. noticed the theft around 5 a.m. and called the police. Also alerted, the IT’S MY BIKE Bike Hunter Team joined the police in the search for the vehicle. The tracker started emitting signals again at 5:53 a.m. as the bike headed towards Göttingen industrial estate. The police officers followed the GPS signal, helped by the Bike Hunter Team.

They soon met with success: just eight hours after the incident, the officers found the e-bike hidden in a bush and took it to the police station.
