Theft in Munich-Riem: GPS tracker leads police to exhibition grounds.

Theft on your doorstep: Mark H.*’s bike was stolen in the evening in mid-June, east of Munich city centre. The Bike Hunters and the police were immediately alerted and set out on a search.

At around 6 p.m. on 16 June 2025, Mark H.*’s bike is stolen right outside his home in Riem. He reacts immediately, reporting the theft just a few minutes later via the IT’S MY BIKE app. What the thief doesn’t know is that the e-bike has a GPS tracker from IT’S MY BIKE. Shortly after the theft, the tracker reveals the bike’s exact location. The Bike Hunters immediately inform the police. The bike is found a little further south at the Riem exhibition grounds.

While Mark H.* is giving his statement to the police, the key question is whether they have permission to access the scene of the crime. Late in the evening, there is a breakthrough: the bike is found in a garden area on the exhibition grounds. But that’s not all; the officers also discover a whole collection of stolen bikes there, ranging from Dutch bikes to e-mountain bikes.

The next morning, Mark H.* is reunited with his bicycle. The investigation into the perpetrators is ongoing, but one thing is certain: thanks to the GPS tracker and close collaboration between Bike Hunters and the police, Mark H.* got his bike back faster than he ever thought possible.
