IoT Venture tracking module makes e-bikes eligible for compulsory insurance in the Netherlands
The insurance obligation for e-bikes in the Netherlands stipulates that high-priced models and cargo bikes must be equipped with an activated Track & Trace module in order to be insured. This regulation applies to electric cargo bikes with a value of €3,500 or more and e-bikes with a value of €4,500 or more.
The IoT Venture tracking module is already factory-installed on a wide range of manufacturers, including Riese & Müller, VELO DE VILLE, Ca Go and Advanced, or can be selected during the configuration process, making it easy for e-bike owners in the Netherlands to comply with the new insurance requirements.
For other models, IoT Venture offers the option of retrofitting the IT’S MY BIKE tracking module. In addition, tracking modules developed by IoT Venture but sold under a different brand name will also be accepted by ENRA for insurance purposes.
The process is fully automated and linked to the Dutch alarm centres that work with ENRA to provide fast and efficient assistance in the event of a theft. Once a theft report has been submitted via the IT’S MY BIKE app, the Bike Hunter team will immediately intervene and assist in the recovery of the bike. Customers also benefit from other app features such as ride statistics, service reminders and documentation, as well as an accident assistant.
